Keep your eyes on Lortehænderne

Lortehænderne (Shithands) - A newly started DJ-collective consisting of 5 young boys, each playing different genres of music, put together into a powerful, explosive, fun, and creative mix. With so many different genres involved, almost anyone with a taste for partying will love them. The boys really understand how to get the crowd going, with matching t-shirts, dressed up friends and a wild energy behind the DJ console. The music is a mix of Fidget, Hip hop, Tech, Baltimore and many more. Lortehænderne have only been around for about 2 months, but they are already on everyone's lips. They have so far played at Rust and Dunkel in Copenhagen for a full house each time. Lortehænderne have made 2 mix tapes and one track so far. So do not let these guys pass your eyes and ears, go see them the next time you can in Copenhagen.

I was so lucky I got to see Lortehænderne performing at Rust on December 3rd. The crowd went absolutely wild and the whole evening was just a big cocktail of everything you would wish for, when you go out to have fun.
However, that is just my experience, you can see it for yourself in this video by Mathias Bojesen and Morten La Cour.

INNOVATING SUSTAINABLE FASHION AWARD SHOW 2/12 2009

The innovating sustainable fashion contest ended last Wedensday with a big award show. For several months, selected students from the best fashion schools in Denmark has been creating innovating concepts with sustainability as a key word. Five prices was given away, and we got an interview with Johanne Graugaard Andersen and Tobias Nielsen who won the third price “design for inclusion”. They made a concept called TRUE2 where the styles are made out of recycled leather and suede combined with ecological knit. On each style, a little logo of 1 to 3 trees indicate how much the individual style saves co2 . The judges said it was the most commercial concept with the strongest branding of all competitors.

1.What was your inspiration for your collection?
Our collection was inspired by female front figures of the 1920s and 30s, and a tribute to the first female pilot Amelia Earhart. She was the first woman to wear a jumpsuit and was basically a woman in a mans world. We still wanted the collection to be present and combined it with our own style and added a bit of humour.

2.Why do you think you won the 3rd price and not 1st price?
Even though we were innovating we were more focused on what can actually sell and what we thought the consumers would wear. We wanted to make clothes that can be used on a daily basic and still look good and not create a crazy design that no one will buy. We wanted to make eco- clothes that can affect the consumers to think more sustainable.

3.How do you think sustainable design will develop in the future?
It will become more and more normal in the future. In a couple of years the consumers will expect and demand to see sustainable clothes in the stores. It wont only be important to have ecological fabrics, but also the enviroment and the relationships at the production houses will have an impact on the consumers choices. But we are only at the first state now so it will take some time before the designers and consumers minds are 100% ready for sustainability.

Their collection will be shown at the Danish design center this month.

AMERICAN PICTURES x SOULLAND COLLABORATION RELEASE 1/12 2009 (WORLD AIDS DAY) AT NORSE PROJECTS COPENHAGEN

3 questions for Silas Adler, designer of Soulland:

1. How did you come up with the idea of the collaboration with the photographer Jacob Holdt?

I have always been a big fan of Jacob and his work. Especially the American pictures has been a big part of my childhood. Jacobs book has always been on my moms book shell, and I remember when I was a kid I used to be afraid of his photos because they where so harsh. My mom gave me the book four years ago and that was the first time I read it. And you know, the stories are just as wild as the photos. I actually got the idea for this collaboration two years ago, it just took me a while before I actually got my self together and ask Jacob.

2. Now that you have moved to Paris, how do you think the creativity is there compared to Copenhagen?

Paris is very different from Copenhagen. Paris is a lot bigger and more metropolitan, where as Copenhagen can get a little provincial. In Paris it is a lot tougher to get to the top and a lot of young talents are trying to get into the game, but if you deliver something good, you will also get credit for it. For me it was just necessary to try something new and to change my base.

3. Where do you go to find inspiration for your collections?

Its very different from each collection. Sometimes I try to put myself in special situations and other times the ideas just comes to me out of the blue. Mostly the really good ideas comes when I am under a lot of pressure, and I actually like it that way, when I am stressed, magic happens.

LunarWood TZ

Once again Wood Wood comes up with a nice sneaker collaboration. This time the Danish brand have taken the classic ACG Wildwood and updated it with a Lunar sole.
Here is what the fine folks at Wood Wood said about the shoe.

"Whereas the original Wildwood was designed mostly for the purpose of running in nature, this project is all about the city. Since we rarely go hiking in the mountains, we wanted to bring the shoe into an urban environment.

The LunarWood is made for the cold and wet Scandinavian nights. Inspiration comes from the world of Graffiti and going on these nocturnal expeditions. All Conditions / All City."

The release is set to mid-December.
